In the west, i kinda lived a glamorous life of stilettos, dresses and such. Womanizing myself.
Anyk offered me a transit in montreal. From womanized Maryno, gotlaunched back into good old punk rock. The Lifestyle. Indeed. a week of beer, weed and shows.

Thats Maryno being lame. Anyk is lame too.

Les Pierogi- COME TO MA HOOD

So when i was working at Calhoun's in Vancouver, we had Puh-ro-gheez. I thought it was lame to call them that.

Last week in school we had to make medaillons of mushroom duxelle. Well shame there was no more semolina for my team.

Oh btw did you know that Marie was a wannabe chef in Plan B school of every wannabe chef?

So yeah. well the teacher called pierogi pee-huh-ro-eeeh.

Marie and Anyk are crazy about pierogi.

However you call them.

Thats what I'm eating tonight.

I'm seriously putting random posts.

Oh yes. SEX.

and by the way when you make soup, do not forget that everything has to fit in the spoon.

Yesterday four of us made a really creative soup in class using yams, swiss chard, summer squash, leeks... tarragon...

i made a nice chiffonade of the swiss chard leaves. But they didnt fit in the spoon.

Still i think i should stop smoking pot before class.

Maryno: Yeah well this blog is quite dying. I guess i'm gonna try to maintain it alive. So far I'm working on a corset for Anyk For my birthday i ordered recycled sari yarns from Frabjous fibers. Dude, those are awesome.

I knitted myself a hobo bag with it. Looks pretty hippie. No pictures yet though

J'avoue que y'a pas un excellent maintien de notre blog... mais bon, pour l'instant je tricote dévouement un corset pour anyk, je vais poster la méthode par apres...

Pour mon anniversaire je me suis payée beaucoup beaucoup de laine de sari recyclée... wow.

Je me suis tricoté un sac... pas encore photographié, mais bon, c'est un sac de hippie.

Pantoufles de peluche/ Plush-y slippers

C'Est ma version des fameuses pantoufles de phentex. Elles sont chaudes, douces et amusantes.
That's my version of granny style slippers, usually made using phentex yarn. My plush-y slippers are really warm, soft and fun.

Matériel

1 pelotte de laine Plush de marque Red heart (80% acrylique, 20% nylon)
1 pelotte de laine Satin Bernat de la même couleur que celle de la peluche (100% acrylique)
1 pelotte de laine Satin Bernat de la couleur voulue (100% acrylique)
1 paire d'aiguilles à tricoter 8 mm
1 aiguille à laine
1 outil à pompom

Vous pouvez utiliser n'importe quelle laine de poids moyen(4) au lieu de la Bernat Satin

La méthode ultra-simple

En tenant les 3 fils ensemble, montez 20 mailles. Travailler au point mousse juqu'à atteindre 8 pouces de longueur. Coupez le fil en laissant environ 12 pouces et le passer dans les mailles sur l'aiguilles avec une aiguille à laine, ce qui va former le bout de votre pantoufle.

Bien tirer et coudre sur la longueur jusqu'à ce qu'il reste environ 2.5 pouces, pour former l'ouverture. Coudre ensuite le talon.
Fabriquez un pom-pom avec la couleur contrastante. Coudre sur le bout de la pantoufle.

Répétez ce processus 2 fois et vous aurez deux pantoufles... gneh.

What you need:

1 skein of Red Heart Plush yarn (80% acrylic, 20% nylon)
1 skein Bernat Satin yarn (100% acrylic) same color as the plush yarn
1 skein Bernat Satin yarn (1oo% acrylic) color of your choice
1 pair 8 mm knitting needles
yarn needle
pompom maker

You can use any worsted weight yarn leftovers instead of the Bernat Satin yarn

What you do:

Hold the three yarn together and cast on 20 stitches. Work in garter stitch until piece reaches 8 inches long. Cut the yarn leaving a 12 inches tail and thread it through the stitches on the needle (look up at the ugly schema in French section). Pull tightly. This is your toes. Sew until there is about 2.5 inches left on the length. Then sew the heel part.
Make a pompom using the yarn with the color of your choice.
Sew on the top of the slipper.

If you repeat twice that process I bet you'll have a pair of slippers.

Marinade Jamaiquaine/ Jerk Marinade

La cuisine végétarienne fait partie de la vie de Maryno depuis 3 ans. Les amants se sont suivis et se sont ressemblés au cours de ces quelques années... mais un seul est resté. Et il s'appelle M. Tofu.
Vegetarian cuisine is part of Maryno's life since 3 years. Lovers come, lovers go, but only Mr. Tofu stayed.

Maryno s'est fait traiter d'hippie par quelques punks. Mais on s'en fout! Le mode de vie végétarien selon elle c'est refuser le lobbyisme de l'industrie de la viande, l'industrialisation d'êtres vivants pour procurer de la chair... Contre-nager le courant social des ragoûts de boulettes et des chiards au baloney.... Mais bon, nous allons expliquer tout cela dans une autre chronique.

Cette recette de marinade style Jerk est excellente avec du tofu, du seitan, ou même des champignons portobello en brochettes... Faites mariner au moins 3 heures ou toute une nuit pour de meilleurs résultats.

This Jerk style marinade is excellent with almighty tofu, satanic seitan or even shroomie portobello shrooms skewered afterward. Just let the stuff soak in the marinade for at least 3 hours.... well preferably overnight. Then grill, sauté, broil... and serve it saucy over rice...

Marinade Jamaïquaine

ingrédients

1 petit oignon haché grossièrement

2 gousses d'ail

1/3 tasse huile d'olive extra-vierge

1/3 tasse sirop d'érable
1/3 tasse sauce tamari ou bragg

le jus de deux citrons

2 piments de cayenne frais (ou un habanero, avec ou sans les membranes et les pépins)

1 cuillerée a thé de cannelle

1 cuillerée a thé de muscade

1 cuillerée a thé d'origan
1 cuillerée a thé poivre noir moulu

1 cuillerée a soupe de thym séché

1/4 cuillerée a thé de clou de girofle moulu

3 feuilles de laurier

Passer le tout au mélangeur ou bien au robot culinaire... Ou si vous êtes vraiment mais vraiment hardcore: hacher finement les oignons et l'ail et moudre les épices dans un mortier/pilon. Mélanger le tout en une purée légèrement chunky.

Les plats marinés de cette sauce vont très bien avec du riz blanc bouilli, des poivrons verts (cuits dans la marinade) des patates douces rôties...

Jerk Marinade

1 small onion, coarsly chopped

2 garlic cloves, smashed

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1/3 cup maple syrup

1/3 cup tamari or bragg sauce

juice of 2 lemons

2 fresh cayenne pepper (or 1 habanero seeded or not)

1 teaspoon of each:

cinnamon

nutmeg

oregano

black pepper

1 tablespoon of thyme

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

3 bay leaves

Throw everything in the blender. Or if you are hardcore, mince up real fine the garlic and the onions, put in a mortar with the spices. Pestle away as a paste. Add the liquid. Blend well.

This jerk goes well with grilled sweet potatoes, green peppers...
